Yesterday, the Funds‑Axis team was on campus at Queen’s University Belfast, taking part in the university’s flagship Careers Fair. This event brings together hundreds of students exploring graduate, placement, and internship opportunities across a wide range of industries.
Represented by Andrea and Ciaran, we had the opportunity to meet highly motivated students from Computing, Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, and other disciplines who were eager to learn more about careers in FinTech, RegTech, compliance, data, and software development.
The Fair is a key part of the QUB student careers ecosystem, where employers from across sectors connect with students looking to develop experience, gain insights into industry pathways, and explore early‑career opportunities.
Why Events Like This Matter
As a Belfast‑headquartered RegTech firm working with global investment managers, ManCos, depositaries and service providers, we understand the value of nurturing new talent in our sector.
Careers fairs give us the opportunity to:
- Engage directly with emerging talent in Northern Ireland
- Raise awareness of career pathways in RegTech
- Share insights into compliance technology and financial software
- Identify students with interest in software engineering, data, operations, or compliance
- Promote our internship, placement, and apprenticeship opportunities
These early conversations often become the foundation for future internships, graduate roles, or even long‑term careers within the team.
What Students Wanted to Know
Throughout the day, Andrea and Ciaran spoke with students about:
- What Funds‑Axis does and how our Galaxy SaaS platform supports global regulatory compliance
- What it’s like to work in a high‑growth technology company
- The skills needed to succeed in software engineering, QA, data analysis, and compliance
- Our culture, team structure, and approach to professional development
- The differences between FinTech and RegTech
- How students from non‑finance degrees can still break into the industry
Many of these conversations aligned closely with what we look for when recruiting apprentices, interns, and early‑career talent:
- Curiosity and willingness to learn
- Problem‑solving mindset
- Interest in technology and financial services
- Good communication skills
- A positive, team‑oriented attitude
These qualities often matter more than experience, something we reinforce consistently across our apprenticeship and early‑careers programmes.
Our Commitment to Early Careers
At Funds‑Axis, we believe talent is shaped by potential, not just experience.
We regularly recruit:
- Placement students
- Summer interns
- Graduate analysts
- Junior developers
- Degree apprentices
These roles allow students to gain hands-on experience in:
- Regulatory technology
- Investment compliance
- Software engineering
- Data & analytics
- Operational process design
- Client onboarding and support
And because we operate in a global, highly regulated sector, early-career hires get exposure to real‑world projects, regulatory challenges, and modern cloud-first technology from day one.
A Big Thank You to Queen’s University Belfast
We’d like to thank the Careers, Employability & Skills team for organising another well‑run event and for continuing to support the next generation of industry professionals. QUB’s Careers Fairs consistently offer high‑value interactions and are a vital talent pipeline for employers across Northern Ireland.
Andrea and Ciaran thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone who stopped by our stand. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and thoughtful questions made the day a real success.
